Zoom for Students

Joining a Zoom Meeting
To join a zoom, you will either be sent a link to a Zoom meeting or a code to join.
Join with a link — If you are sent a link, click on the link when it's time to join the meeting.  You will not need to enter a code or password because they are incorporated into the link.  It will ask you for permission to join with video.

Join with a code and password —
• Go to www.Zoom.com
• Click Sign In in the upper right
• Scroll down and click Sign in with Google.
• Sign in using your school email [<xxxxxxxxx@casdschools.org>] and password.
• Click 'Join a Meeting' in the upper right.
• Enter the Meeting ID you've been given.
• Then enter the password you've been given for this Zoom meeting and click 'Join'.  (It will ask you for permission to join with video.)
Please note that student cameras are now enabled on the Chromebooks.

Password are critical with the sudden explosion of use with Zoom. It has become an area for “zoombombers” and a password protects meetings from inappropriate content.

With this initiative and any other concerns, please reach out to teachers for assistance in supporting your student(s). All of us are in this "social distancing" together. Please communicate any concerns or questions.

A couple of important disclaimers:

1. If any teachers host a Zoom meeting, it is important for your child to understand that appropriate behavior is expected; just like in school. Zoom has a really cool hand-raising feature as well as muting control to help facilitate this environment.

2. A Zoom meeting allows for anyone in the meeting to be in your home environment. Whatever is in the background when your child is on Zoom is made public to anyone else in the meeting. Teachers and administrators are mandated reporters, so anything in the background that could be misinterpreted, would have to be reported. So, please consider a quiet place for you and your child for the meeting to avoid any misunderstandings.
